Strength Training, Coordination and Anatomy of Agility, how to use the books

This course is divided in 5 different modules. It is completely online. It is strongly recommended to read both books, "Strenth Training and Coordination, an integrative approach" and "The Anatomy of Agility" before starting the course. The course aims at and high level and having read the books is a prerequisite for a successful learning project.

Study Load
This course contains 5 different modules. Each module has approximately 3,5 hours in watching videos of presentations. For preparation you prepare a case from your daily practice, watch the videos, read relevant chapters from the books and formulate questions for the Q&A on the start of the live sessions. During the live sessions you work in groups on assignments in templates which you upload on the digital platform. In the period between the sessions you continue working with your group on the assignment. Before the next live session, you’ll upload the assignment and will receive feedback from the teachers. The last session you will prepare an individual assignment and receive feedback.
NOTE: The online environment will close approximately 2 weeks after the last live session. So make sure you download the materials you want before then. The films will not be downloadable. 

Preparation, reading, preparing a case 4 hours each module

Working on the assignment in between sessions 4 hours each module

Learning outcomes

After this course the participant understands the key concepts of Strength Training and coordination and is able to do a movement analysis in sports and rehabilitation and is able to construct exercises for training.

More specific:
- Understand the Constraint Led Approach and transfer this Knowledge into Exercises and training
- Understands the mechanisms of specificity and transfer of training;Understands how feedback works and can
   organize training and rehabilitation in such a way that Represenative Design in exercises and the
   learning process is guaranteed;
- Understands Self Organization and its effects from intramuscular processes to muscle cooperation to bigger 
   components of movement to total contextual patterns;
-  Understand deep rules of motor control and knows how to determine these in movement analysis;
-  Understands the Search Rules for Attractors and how to apply these in movement analysis;
-  Has knowledge of all the systems involved in Motor Control, Feedback and Intrinsic Learning,   
   and how to apply these in rehabilitation and training;
- Has knowledge about Phase Transitions and knows how to use these in rehabilitation and training in order to
   accelerate the learning process;
- Knows about Hierarchy in Attractors and how to determine these in movement analysis;
- Shows how all the knowledge in this course is presented in training or rehabilitation in the Running Cycle.

Module 1 (decentral control and self organization)
In preparation for module 1 (videos available from 7 days before online sessions for module 1)
1) Watch the following video’s (as often as you like) Total duration of the videos approx. 4 hrs
2) Prepare questions for a Q&A on topics from the videos and the relevant chapters from the books
There will be a Q&A at the start of the online day where your questions will be answered.
(anything you want to be explained once more, any questions on practical application you
encountered after the theory course, any question about topics that the theory course maybe missed out on)
3) Start gathering material (videos back ground information etc.) if you want to do a work on a case study of your own interest. The case study can be used in the breakout rooms when filling the templates

Online course-day 1
During the 6-hour online session there will be:

  • class room meetings with Q&A on the topics from the videos and the relevant book chapters
  • break out room with groups of 4-5 participants, to work on case studies, templates and questions.

After the online day you can work more on the templates. You have 1 week before you need to upload them for feedback. Arrange Zoom meetings with you other members of your breakout group the further discuss the cases and answer the questions from the templates. Also put ‘logistics’ in place to share the work, like a shared dropbox folder and appoint one administrator who keeps everything organized and eventually uploads the files.
